Match-Trade Technologies announced the launch of Match-Trader MCP for Traders – a remote Model Context Protocol server that lets traders connect their Match-Trader trading accounts to AI assistants. The solution enables traders to access account and market data and prepare trading actions through a consistent set of tools.
A Simpler Way to Work with Trading Data: Ask, Verify, Act
Traders routinely spend time switching between tabs, exporting history, and manually calculating portfolio exposure, swap impact, or performance patterns. Match-Trader MCP removes those steps.
Instead of searching through platform menus or spreadsheets, a trader can ask:
- “Show my open positions and how much swap has cost me this month.”
- “Review my last 30 days of closed trades and summarize what the losers have in common.”
- “What is my USD exposure across the whole portfolio?”
- “Which positions have no stop loss set?”
When the trader wants to place or manage orders, the assistant calls the corresponding trading tool – for example, to place a pending order or close a position. The AI tool shows the requested operation and its parameters, and MCP clients typically ask the trader to approve state-changing actions before they run.
How Match-Trader MCP Works
Match-Trader MCP is a request‑response connection layer built on the Match-Trader platform’s API. It provides AI assistant-controlled access to one trading account.
Trader prompt → AI app (Claude/ChatGPT/Cursor/VS Code) → Match-Trader MCP (remote) → Trader API (the trader’s account)
Each tool maps directly to a Trader API endpoint and falls into one of two groups:
- Read tools for account, portfolio, and market insight
- Action tools for trading operations (opening, modifying, and closing positions; creating, modifying, and canceling pending orders)
This approach is practical and transparent: the AI client can show which tool it intends to use, what data it will retrieve, and when an order is about to be sent.
Benefits for Traders
Match-Trader MCP is built around trader outcomes, not “AI hype.” Key benefits include:
- Faster clarity from live data: account summary, portfolio state, positions, pending orders, ledgers, quotes, and candles – available through natural-language requests.
- Better decision support and review workflows: quickly surface patterns in trade history, identify risk gaps (e.g., missing SL/TP), and create cleaner post-trade analysis.
- Human-in-the-loop trading actions: the assistant prepares actions; the trader stays in control and confirms execution.
- Works with the AI tools traders already use: connect the same MCP server in multiple supported MCP clients without separate integrations.
- No software to install: Match-Trader MCP is a remote server, added to an AI app like any other connector.
Security, Control, and Auditability
Because trust is non-negotiable in financial workflows, Match-Trader MCP is designed with clear operational boundaries:
- One token, one trading account: the trader generates an access token in Match-Trader (API Access view) and chooses the token name for traceability.
- Scoped permissions: access can be granted by function groups rather than “all-or-nothing.”
- Revocable access: tokens can be revoked at any time, without affecting other integrations.
- Rate limiting: enforced per token and per user across tokens to prevent abuse.
- Platform-level traceability: actions executed via API remain visible in trading history; for example, an API-closed position can carry the token name in the close reason.
Important note: Match-Trader MCP is an interface to a trader’s account and platform functions. It does not provide investment advice, and traders remain responsible for any orders they approve.
